In September, there’s still a touch of summer in the air, so it’s perfect for beach walks and picnics. By October, silver grass and fall flowers start taking over all around the city.

Then from late October into November, places like Beomeosa Temple, Jangansa Temple, and Hwamyeong Arboretum really turn into full-on fall foliage destinations.

So if you’re planning a Busan fall trip, it’s more important to choose places based on your travel dates than to simply chase the most famous spots.

In this guide, I picked 15 Busan fall travel spots that are especially good for actually enjoying in person.
From early September walks to October silver grass and November foliage, I’ll break everything down by timing.

When is the best time for a Busan fall trip?

Here’s the quick version first.

Since Busan’s foliage tends to arrive later than in Seoul or inland areas, it’s better to aim for late October or later instead of expecting peak leaves in September.

On the other hand, September and October are ideal for coastal walks and picnics thanks to the cooler weather.

1Seunghaksan
If you want to see silver grass in Busan

If I had to pick just one especially memorable fall scene for a Busan fall trip, I’d recommend the silver grass at Seunghaksan.

Seunghaksan is one of the signature mountains in Busan’s Saha-gu, and in fall, the ridgeline fills with silver grass, making it one of the city’s best autumn hiking spots.

Saha-gu also promotes the Seunghaksan silver grass trail as a separate hiking course.

2Beomeosa Temple
A classic Busan fall foliage spot

It’s hard to talk about fall foliage in Busan without mentioning Beomeosa Temple.

Set on the slopes of Geumjeongsan, Beomeosa Temple already has a beautiful atmosphere on its own, but in fall, the historic temple buildings and red-and-gold leaves come together for one of Busan’s most iconic autumn scenes.

If you have time, don’t just stop at the temple—walking a bit farther along the Geumjeongsan trail is absolutely worth it.

3Jangansa Temple
A less crowded Busan foliage spot

If you want a fall foliage destination with a quieter feel than Beomeosa Temple, I’d recommend Jangansa Temple in Gijang.

Jangansa Temple is an old temple at the foot of Bulgwangsan, and it’s especially nice to visit together with Jangansa Valley.

Gijang-gun’s official tourism course also introduces Jangansa Temple and Jangansa Valley as one of the area’s signature healing routes.
It was even recently recognized in the Gijang-gun tourism photo contest, “Late Autumn at a Mountain Temple — Jangansa”which says a lot about how beautiful the fall scenery is here.

5Eulsukdo Ecological Park

One Busan fall landscape I personally hate to leave out is Eulsukdo.

Located at the Nakdong River estuary, Eulsukdo feels completely different from the city once fall arrives, with reeds, silver grass, and migratory birds all coming together in one place.

Since it’s not far from Dadaepo, I also recommend pairing Eulsukdo with a Dadaepo sunset route.

6Yongso Well-Being Park
Gijang’s fall colors settling over the lake

Yongso Well-Being Park feels less like a major tourist attraction and more like a local place people actually come to for a walk.

Around the lake surrounded by mountains, you’ll find walking paths, an observatory, and a suspension bridge. Gijang-gun’s Health Walking Course A takes about 25 minutes for one full loop.

It was also featured in the recent Gijang-gun tourism photo contest with works like “Gijang’s Foliage Garden, Dyed in Reflected Light” and “Autumn Light Arrives at Yongsomot.”

8UN Memorial Cemetery

The UN Memorial Cemetery in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu is the world’s only UN cemetery.

That said, this is a place of remembrance and historical meaning first, not just a sightseeing stop, so it’s best to visit quietly and respectfully.

If you want forest and ocean in one trip

Taejongdae is popular year-round, but in fall, it’s much more comfortable to explore than in summer, and you get both forest paths and dramatic ocean views in one place.

The Danubi Train has separate operating hours and fares, so it’s worth checking same-day service before you go.
13Oryukdo Sunrise Park and Skywalk
A classic Busan-style fall seaside walk

The sunlight is much softer than in summer, which makes it a beautiful time to walk while looking out over the sea.

An underrated Busan fall walking spot

If you’d rather find a hidden local spot than follow the standard tourist route, Sara Waterfront Park is worth adding to your list.

With walking paths centered around the lake, it’s a nice place for a light stroll or a quiet break.

If you love fall foliage

This is a great route if you want to fully enjoy the autumn scenery in northern Busan in one day.

If you want silver grass and sunset

Seunghaksan · Eulsukdo · Dadaepo

I’d recommend this as an afternoon-to-evening route. Start with the silver grass at Seunghaksan, take a walk around Eulsukdo, then finish with sunset at Dadaepo.

If you want a Gijang drive

Yongso Well-Being Park · Jangansa Temple · Ahopsan Forest

This route lets you combine a park, a temple, and a forest in one day. If you have extra time, you can keep going to one of Gijang’s ocean-view cafés.

If you want an easy route near Gwangalli

Gwangalli · APEC Naru Park · Oryukdo · Igidae

This is a great option if you want Busan-style ocean scenery and walking without driving too far.

A Busan fall trip starting from Gwangalli

If you’re staying in Gwangalli, it’s much easier to split your itinerary east to west across Busan.
