Best Busan Fall Travel Guide 2026: 15 Places for Foliage, Silver Grass, and Sunsets

Autumn in Busan
Best places to visit in Busan in fall 2026
Best 15
A complete guide to September, October, and November foliage, silver grass, and sunset spots

Fall in Busan lasts longer than most people expect, and each part of the season has a pretty different feel.

In September, there’s still a touch of summer in the air, so it’s perfect for beach walks and picnics. By October, silver grass and fall flowers start taking over all around the city.

Then from late October into November, places like Beomeosa Temple, Jangansa Temple, and Hwamyeong Arboretum really turn into full-on fall foliage destinations.

So if you’re planning a Busan fall trip, it’s more important to choose places based on your travel dates than to simply chase the most famous spots.

In this guide, I picked 15 Busan fall travel spots that are especially good for actually enjoying in person.
From early September walks to October silver grass and November foliage, I’ll break everything down by timing.

When is the best time for a Busan fall trip?

Here’s the quick version first.

Timing

Best for

Recommended places

September

Early fall ocean views, picnics, and walks

APEC Naru Park · Oryukdo · Taejongdae · Dadaepo

October

Silver grass, fall flowers, and walking trips

Seunghaksan · Eulsukdo · Daejeo Ecological Park · Hoedong Reservoir

Late October to November

Fall foliage, historic temples, and forest paths

Beomeosa Temple · Jangansa Temple · Hwamyeong Arboretum · UN Memorial Cemetery

Since Busan’s foliage tends to arrive later than in Seoul or inland areas, it’s better to aim for late October or later instead of expecting peak leaves in September.

On the other hand, September and October are ideal for coastal walks and picnics thanks to the cooler weather.

※ Peak timing for foliage, silver grass, and fall flowers can vary each year depending on temperatures and weather conditions.

1Seunghaksan
If you want to see silver grass in Busan

Busan National Seunghaksan Healing Forest
Healing Center, 201 Jeseok-ro, Saha-gu, Busan, South Korea

If I had to pick just one especially memorable fall scene for a Busan fall trip, I’d recommend the silver grass at Seunghaksan.

Seunghaksan is one of the signature mountains in Busan’s Saha-gu, and in fall, the ridgeline fills with silver grass, making it one of the city’s best autumn hiking spots.

Saha-gu also promotes the Seunghaksan silver grass trail as a separate hiking course.

Best time to visit

Mid to late October

Admission

Free

Public transportation

You can get there from Dangni Station or Hadan Station on Busan Subway Line 1.

Why go

One of Busan’s top silver grass spots, Nakdong River views from the ridge, better for a real hike than a casual stroll

I’d recommend bringing hiking shoes and giving yourself plenty of time to get up before sunset.

2Beomeosa Temple
A classic Busan fall foliage spot

Beomeosa Temple
250 Beomeosa-ro, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, South Korea

It’s hard to talk about fall foliage in Busan without mentioning Beomeosa Temple.

Set on the slopes of Geumjeongsan, Beomeosa Temple already has a beautiful atmosphere on its own, but in fall, the historic temple buildings and red-and-gold leaves come together for one of Busan’s most iconic autumn scenes.

Best time to visit

Late October to mid-November

Admission

Free temple entry

Parking

Use the parking facilities around Beomeosa Temple

Public transportation

Beomeosa Station on Busan Subway Line 1, then Bus 90

Why go

A great place to see a historic temple and fall foliage together
One of the best Busan fall trip spots to visit with parents
Easy to combine with a walk around Geumjeongsan

If you have time, don’t just stop at the temple—walking a bit farther along the Geumjeongsan trail is absolutely worth it.

3Jangansa Temple
A less crowded Busan foliage spot

Jangansa Temple
108 Jangansa-ro, Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea

If you want a fall foliage destination with a quieter feel than Beomeosa Temple, I’d recommend Jangansa Temple in Gijang.

Jangansa Temple is an old temple at the foot of Bulgwangsan, and it’s especially nice to visit together with Jangansa Valley.

Gijang-gun’s official tourism course also introduces Jangansa Temple and Jangansa Valley as one of the area’s signature healing routes.
It was even recently recognized in the Gijang-gun tourism photo contest, “Late Autumn at a Mountain Temple — Jangansa”which says a lot about how beautiful the fall scenery is here.

Best time to visit

Late October to mid-November

From Gijang Market, take Gijang Village Bus 9, get off at Sangjangan, then walk about 5 minutes

You can also take Gijang Village Bus 9 from Jwacheon Station.

4Hwamyeong Arboretum
A Busan foliage spot that’s great for families

Hwamyeong Arboretum
299 Sanseong-ro, Buk-gu, Busan, South Korea

If hiking feels like too much, Hwamyeong Arboretum is a great alternative.

You can take your time walking through the arboretum while enjoying fall colors and a wide variety of plants, so it works especially well for a Busan fall trip with parents or kids.

5Eulsukdo Ecological Park
Busan fall shaped by reeds and migratory birds

Eulsukdo Ecological Park
1207 Hadan-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, South Korea

One Busan fall landscape I personally hate to leave out is Eulsukdo.

Located at the Nakdong River estuary, Eulsukdo feels completely different from the city once fall arrives, with reeds, silver grass, and migratory birds all coming together in one place.

Since it’s not far from Dadaepo, I also recommend pairing Eulsukdo with a Dadaepo sunset route.

6Yongso Well-Being Park
Gijang’s fall colors settling over the lake

Yongso Well-Being Park
San 7-2 Seobu-ri, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea

Yongso Well-Being Park feels less like a major tourist attraction and more like a local place people actually come to for a walk.

Around the lake surrounded by mountains, you’ll find walking paths, an observatory, and a suspension bridge. Gijang-gun’s Health Walking Course A takes about 25 minutes for one full loop.

It was also featured in the recent Gijang-gun tourism photo contest with works like “Gijang’s Foliage Garden, Dyed in Reflected Light” and “Autumn Light Arrives at Yongsomot.”

7Dadaepo Beach
End your Busan fall trip with sunset

Dadaepo Beach
Dadae-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, South Korea

Fall in Busan doesn’t have to be all mountains and foliage.

In fact, one of the best parts of the season here is walking by the sea in cool, breezy weather.

Dadaepo is one of the city’s best-known sunset spots.

Best time to visit

September to November

8UN Memorial Cemetery
A calm side of fall in central Busan

UN Memorial Cemetery
93 UN pyeonghwa-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, South Korea

The UN Memorial Cemetery in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu is the world’s only UN cemetery.

With its beautifully maintained grounds and tree-lined paths, it becomes especially calm and striking in fall.

That said, this is a place of remembrance and historical meaning first, not just a sightseeing stop, so it’s best to visit quietly and respectfully.

Hoedong Reservoir Trail
352-3 Oryun-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, South Korea

A different kind of Busan trip through bamboo groves

Ahopsan Forest
31 Midong-gil, Cheolma-myeon, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea

Ahopsan Forest has a very different charm from the usual fall foliage spots.

Once you start walking through the preserved forest and bamboo paths, the atmosphere changes so completely that you may briefly forget you’re even in Busan.

Best time to visit

Hours

It’s an especially good fit for travelers who have already visited Busan’s major tourist attractions a few times.

If you had to choose by month
You definitely don’t need to visit all 15 places in one trip.
Instead, pick based on your travel dates.

Best places to visit in Busan in September

  • APEC Naru Park

  • Oryukdo

Best places to visit in Busan in October

  • Seunghaksan

  • Eulsukdo

  • Daejeo Ecological Park

  • Hoedong Reservoir

Recommended routes by travel style

If you love fall foliage

Beomeosa Temple · Hwamyeong Arboretum · Geumjeong Fortress

This is a great route if you want to fully enjoy the autumn scenery in northern Busan in one day.

If you want silver grass and sunset

Seunghaksan · Eulsukdo · Dadaepo

I’d recommend this as an afternoon-to-evening route. Start with the silver grass at Seunghaksan, take a walk around Eulsukdo, then finish with sunset at Dadaepo.

If you want a Gijang drive

Yongso Well-Being Park · Jangansa Temple · Ahopsan Forest

This route lets you combine a park, a temple, and a forest in one day. If you have extra time, you can keep going to one of Gijang’s ocean-view cafés.

If you want an easy route near Gwangalli

Gwangalli · APEC Naru Park · Oryukdo · Igidae

This is a great option if you want Busan-style ocean scenery and walking without driving too far.

A Busan fall trip starting from Gwangalli

If you’re staying in Gwangalli, it’s much easier to split your itinerary east to west across Busan.

On a Haeundae and Gijang dayhead to
APEC Naru Park · Yongso Well-Being Park · Jangansa Temple

On a Nam-gu and Yeongdo dayhead to
Oryukdo · Taejongdae

On a West Busan dayhead to
Seunghaksan · Eulsukdo · Dadaepo

and group them like that.

After a full day exploring Busan, coming back to Gwangalli and ending the night by the water is one of the best ways to wrap up a Busan fall trip.

Yeonondam Gwangalli Beach Branchwill keep sharing more seasonal places to enjoy around Busan.

Fall in Busan changes little by little from September through November

September is for the sea and picnics,

October is for silver grass and fall flowers,

and November is for foliage.

Even in the same city, the scenery can feel completely different depending on when you visit.

If you’re heading to Busan this fall, try adding one or two places where you can slow down and really walk, instead of rushing through only the biggest tourist sights.

That’s when Busan in fall feels the most beautiful.
