Busan Fall Foliage Guide 2026: Top 5 Spots
Where to Go in Busan, South Korea, This October and November
Busan fall foliage is just the beginning—autumn here has more to offer than you might expect.
In summer, travelers flock to Busan for beaches like Gwangalli and Haeundae. But come October, the city takes on a different mood. Cooler days make walking a pleasure, and the trees in its parks and arboretums slowly trade their summer greens for gold and red.
Think lakeside paths lined with dawn redwoods, arboretums glowing with autumn color, seasonal flowers along the Nakdong River, and leisurely walks beside the Suyeong River. With mountains, rivers, and the sea all close together, Busan lets you experience several very different autumn landscapes without leaving the city.
There is one thing worth knowing before planning a foliage trip, though: autumn arrives relatively late in Busan. Don’t expect every park to be ablaze with red leaves in early October.
Rather than focusing only on colorful leaves, this guide includes autumn flowers and waterfront parks for October, plus arboretums and woodland walks for late October through November.I’ve picked five places that let you enjoy the full range of Busan’s autumn scenery.

When Is the Best Time to See Busan Fall Foliage?
Timing is usually the biggest question when planning a foliage trip. The pace of the color change depends on that year’s temperatures and rainfall, as well as elevation and tree species, so it’s difficult to name a definite peak date months in advance.
Here’s a useful way to think about autumn travel in Busan.
|
Early to Mid-October |
Focus on autumn flowers, waterfront walks, and ecological parks rather than colorful leaves. |
|
Mid- to Late October |
Autumn colors gradually deepen along walking trails and in arboretums. |
|
Late October Through November |
A better window for a trip centered on autumn foliage. |
Even within Busan, the foothills of Geumjeongsan Mountain, downtown streets, and the Nakdong River waterfront can look quite different. If colorful leaves are your main priority, check conditions 3–7 days before your visit. Look at recent visitor photos on Naver or updates on the attraction’s official social media accounts.
01
Hwamyeong Arboretum
For a Woodland Foliage Walk in Busan
|
Address 299 Sanseong-ro, Buk-gu, Busan, South Korea Admission Free; parking is also free. Hours March–October: 9 a.m.–6 p.m. · November–February: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Closed Every Monday, January 1, and the days of Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Korean harvest holiday). Getting There Take Metro Line 2 to Hwamyeong Station, Exit 6, then transfer to the Geumjeong 1 neighborhood bus. Best For Autumn foliage · Woodland trails · Walking · Family trips |
First up is Hwamyeong Arboretum. If Busan fall foliage is what you’re after, this is the first of these five spots I’d consider.
Set in the foothills of Geumjeongsan Mountain, the arboretum lets you step away from the city and take in the changing season at a slower pace. Visit Busan’s Busan Tourism Archive also tags its Hwamyeong Arboretum materials with autumn, walking trails, nature, fall foliage, and arboretum.
As autumn deepens, the trees beside the trails begin changing color, creating a very different atmosphere from the city’s tree-lined streets. This isn’t a place to snap a photo at one designated spot and leave. The appeal is walking slowly and enjoying the woodland as a whole, making it a lovely choice for a Busan trip with your parents or a family outing with children.
|
Know Before You Go Hours change with the seasons. From November through February, winter hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with last admission at 4 p.m. If you’re planning a November 2026 visit, check for that year’s winter-hours announcement before setting out. Forest interpretation program schedules are available through the Busan Metropolitan City Integrated Reservation System (reserve.busan.go.kr). |
Who Will Enjoy It? Put this high on your list if you want a proper autumn foliage walk, a quiet outing with family or your parents, or seasonal photos with a woodland backdrop.
02
Yongso Wellbeing Park
Lakeside Dawn Redwoods and Autumn Scenery in Gijang
|
Address Seobu-ri area, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea Admission Free Hours Open around the clock; a loop of the walking trail takes about 30 minutes. 🅿 Parking No dedicated parking lot; use nearby public parking or parking at the Gijang Community Sports Center. Best For Dawn redwoods · Lake views · Walking · Picnics |
For a quieter autumn destination in Busan, try Yongso Wellbeing Park in Gijang. Rather than a collection of flashy tourist attractions, it’s a peaceful mix of Yongsogol Reservoir, woodland, and walking trails.
The standout here is the lakeside path lined with metasequoias, also known as dawn redwoods. As autumn progresses, their green needles turn warm brown, blending beautifully with the waterside scenery. Follow the boardwalk, pause somewhere with a clear lake view, or bring a picnic blanket and a few snacks for a relaxed afternoon.
Think of it as somewhere to enjoy autumn quietly, away from the bustle of Busan’s best-known attractions. For photos, softer afternoon light tends to capture the mood better than harsh midday sunshine.
|
What to Pair It With Make Yongso Wellbeing Park part of a wider Gijang outing rather than your only stop. After your walk, explore Gijang Market, a café along the Gijang coast, or the Osiria area to turn it into a half-day or full-day itinerary. |
Who Will Enjoy It? It’s especially suited to an autumn date, a peaceful walk, or anyone who loves dawn redwoods and lake views.

03
Haeundae Arboretum
A Family-Friendly Autumn Woodland Escape Within Busan
|
Address 77 Seokdae-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea Admission Free; free parking with approximately 655 spaces. Hours March–October: 9 a.m.–6 p.m. · November–February: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Closed Every Tuesday, January 1, and the days of Seollal and Chuseok. Best For Family trips · Arboretums · Autumn walks |
Haeundae usually brings Haeundae Beach, Cheongsapo, and Mipo to mind first. But a short trip away from the coast brings you to Haeundae Arboretum, with an entirely different atmosphere. Covering roughly 190,000 pyeong—about 628,000 square meters, or 155 acres—it offers a spacious mix of plants and walking areas for an easy autumn outing in Busan.
One of its biggest advantages is how easily it fits into a Haeundae or Centum City itinerary. You could walk through the arboretum in the morning, explore Centum City or Haeundae in the afternoon, and head to Gwangalli in the evening. For families with children, the generous outdoor space is another plus: there’s more to the outing than simply looking at leaves and heading home.
|
Travel Tip This arboretum is somewhere to slow down and walk, not just find a single photo spot. Wear comfortable sneakers and leave yourself plenty of time. Also, remember that Hwamyeong Arboretum closes on Mondays, while Haeundae Arboretum closes on Tuesdays.Their closing days differ, so check your schedule before setting out. |
Who Will Enjoy It? It’s a good fit for families planning an autumn outing with children, travelers who want some nature during a Haeundae trip, and anyone who wants a woodland walk without committing to a long mountain hike.

04
Daejeo Ecological Park
Visiting Busan in October? Come for Autumn Scenery, Not Just Leaves
|
Address Daejeo 1-dong area, Gangseo-gu, Busan, South Korea Admission Free; free bicycle rentals are available. Getting There Near Exit 2 of Gangseo-gu Office Station on Metro Line 3. Best For Autumn flowers · Nakdong River · Cycling · Walking |
It’s worth making one distinction here: Daejeo Ecological Park isn’t a classic woodland foliage destination. It’s a place to enjoy Busan’s broader autumn landscape—and that makes it particularly useful for an October trip.
The park offers sweeping scenery and seasonal vegetation along the Nakdong River. It’s also known for autumn plantings of cosmos, pink muhly grass, and pampas grass. Even before the leaves have fully changed, you’ll have wide-open river views to enjoy, making it a strong choice for early or mid-October.
With so much space and unobstructed views, the park is great for walking or cycling. The cool riverside breeze gives it a completely different feel from summer. If you’re worried the leaves won’t have changed yet, adding an ecological park like this to your itinerary is a good backup.
|
When Should You Visit? Late afternoon is especially lovely here, with the sun sitting lower over the broad sky and Nakdong River. Flower planting and bloom conditions can change each year, though, so check that year’s updates if you’re coming specifically to see a particular flower or grass. |
Who Will Enjoy It? A great choice for October trips to Busan, scenic drives, cycling, and anyone who loves wide-open views.

05
APEC Naru Park
An Autumn Riverside Walk Between Centum City and Gwangalli
|
Address 85 Suyeonggangbyeon-daero, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea Admission Free · Open year-round, around the clock Getting There About a 13-minute walk from Exit 12 of Centum City Station on Metro Line 2. Bus Take bus 139 to the Busan Cinema Center stop, then walk about 7 minutes. Best For Suyeong River · Walking · Dates · Combining with Gwangalli |
Last on the list is APEC Naru Park. While the earlier spots lean more toward woodland and nature, this one offers an urban autumn walk that feels distinctly Busan. Walking paths and jogging routes follow the Suyeong River, and there’s a sculpture park, too. Visit Busan’s official tourism information lists it as a free park open year-round and around the clock.
APEC Naru Park’s biggest advantage is its location. It’s easy to walk over after exploring Centum City and the Busan Cinema Center, then continue to Gwangalli afterward. Rather than making the park your only destination, I’d recommend linking it into this route: Centum City → APEC Naru Park → Gwangalli It’s an easy way to bring several stops together.
Enjoy the Suyeong River and tree-lined paths by day, then head to Gwangalli after sunset for the illuminated Gwangan Bridge. You get autumn scenery and Busan’s seaside atmosphere in a single day.
Who Will Enjoy It? This is the most convenient option for couples visiting Busan, an easy autumn stroll, or anyone already planning time in Centum City and Gwangalli.

Daejeo Ecological Park |

If you’re also visiting Gwangalli and Centum City |
APEC Naru Park |
On a short Busan trip, you’ll enjoy yourself more by choosing one or two places near your accommodation or next destination than by rushing to visit every famous spot.
Visiting Busan in October vs. November
Adjust your destination choices to the timing of your autumn trip.

|
Where to Go in Busan in October In early to mid-October, don’t build your whole trip around waiting for the leaves to change. Start with open autumn landscapes at Daejeo Ecological Park or pleasant walking routes at APEC Naru Park. As the weather cools, it’s a lovely time to spend longer outdoors. |
|
Visiting Busan in Late October Through November This is when arboretums and woodland walks deserve a more central place in your itinerary. Check current foliage conditions before choosing tree-filled spots such as Hwamyeong Arboretum, Yongso Wellbeing Park, or Haeundae Arboretum. Just remember that peak color varies from year to year. |
Plan Your Busan Autumn Itinerary by Area
Busan stretches much farther from east to west than it may appear on a map. Trying to visit Hwamyeong Arboretum, Daejeo Ecological Park, and Yongso Wellbeing Park in Gijang all in one day could leave you spending more time in transit than exploring. Grouping your stops by area makes much more sense.

|
Western and Northern Busan Route Daejeo Ecological Park → Hwamyeong Arboretum Start with expansive autumn views along the Nakdong River, then continue with a woodland walk. |
|
Eastern Busan Route Haeundae Arboretum → Yongso Wellbeing Park → A Café in Gijang A useful route for families or travelers getting around by car. |
|
Gwangalli-Based Route Centum City → APEC Naru Park → Gwangalli Beach → Gwangan Bridge Night Views This is the easiest route if you’re staying in Gwangalli. You can comfortably start in the afternoon, then finish with dinner at a Gwangalli restaurant or a stop at a café. |
Busan Autumn Foliage Travel FAQ
Q. When can you usually see autumn leaves in Busan?
Autumn arrives relatively late in Busan, so late October through November is generally the better planning window. Mountain areas and downtown streets change color at different rates, and temperatures can make a big difference each year. Check conditions shortly before your visit rather than relying on a fixed peak date.
Q. Is mid-October too early for an autumn trip to Busan?
It may be a little early if colorful leaves are your only goal, but it’s still a great time for an autumn visit. Add places such as Daejeo Ecological Park or APEC Naru Park, where you can enjoy seasonal walks.
Q. Which autumn spot in Busan is best for children?
Haeundae Arboretum would be my first recommendation. Its spacious outdoor grounds make it a good family outing even when leaf-peeping isn’t the main objective.
Q. Where should I go with my parents?
If a long hike would be too much, choose walking-focused destinations such as an arboretum or waterfront park. Hwamyeong Arboretum and APEC Naru Park are worth considering, but adjust your route to the actual walking distance and how everyone feels that day
.
Q. Can I enjoy autumn leaves and the sea in Busan on the same day?
Yes. Visit Haeundae Arboretum or APEC Naru Park, then head to Gwangalli. You can combine an autumn walk, Busan’s seaside scenery, and illuminated Gwangan Bridge views in one day.
Q. Can I bring a pet to these parks?
This advice applies to parks and other outdoor destinations, not accommodations. Many outdoor parks allow walks with pets, but rules differ by facility, so check each park’s official guidance before visiting. Yeonondam, the accommodation introduced later in this article, does not accommodate pets overnight. Outdoor access rules and lodging policies are separate.
There’s More to Autumn in Busan Than Colorful Leaves
Autumn in Busan isn’t special only because of its foliage. A short trip can take you from woodland trails to the sea, or from a riverside walk to evening views of Gwangan Bridge.
Enjoy autumn flowers and cool-weather walks in October, then seek out richer foliage from late October through November. You might choose Hwamyeong Arboretum’s woodland trails, the lake at Yongso Wellbeing Park, or a walk beside the Suyeong River at APEC Naru Park.
You don’t have to chase a single famous foliage spot. Finding a little autumn scenery that fits naturally into your itinerary can be just as rewarding.

|
After Your Autumn Walk, Spend the Night in Gwangalli Walk through forests and parks by day, then look out over the sea in the evening—that’s an autumn itinerary Busan does particularly well. If you’ve been exploring Haeundae, Centum City, or APEC Naru Park, Gwangalli makes an easy final stop. Arrive before sunset for a seaside stroll, have dinner, and stay to see Gwangan Bridge light up. It’s a satisfying way to finish a full autumn day in Busan. If you’re planning to spend a night in Gwangalli, consider Yeonondam Gwangalli Beach. This private stay welcomes just one group per day and is about a 2-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cinema room, and a Jacuzzi. For families or friends traveling together, it’s a comfortable place to explore Busan by day and unwind together in the evening.
